About Thea
Thea keeps every voice in view.
She is James’s partner in the work. While he is in the room with each party, she researches ahead of each conversation, keeps track of everything said, and analyses across all of them at once, every point traced to who said it. Together they build lenses: a harness set around an objective that several people hold, showing each party’s view and where those views meet. They fire it up, then polish and tune it until the whole group can see one collective position.
She specialises in holding many views side by side, tracing each one to its source, and finding where they meet.
The judgement is James’s. Her part is making sure he has everything in view when he makes it.
The foundations
Thea is the third build of one idea.
1999 · The seed. At a knowledge management conference, James heard how Shell had put videoed maintenance fixes on one shared server, so a lesson learned on one site reached the whole enterprise.
2005–2011 · iMoneyManager. The first build: one central hub, so a person’s finances were entered once and every creditor worked from the same record.
2011–2016 · Bridgelight. The second: natural-language search across thousands of company websites, shortlisting those best placed to collaborate. Future Railways was its first customer. From 2015 it drew its matches as a knowledge graph; a plain list worked better, and the list taught the method.
2023 on · Thea. The third: retrieval structured for a study of AI adoption, then an AI partner, built by taking an open-source assistant apart first.
Alongside every consulting role, James developed technology to support the work. Thea is where it led.
